protting against rspike
i need some advice from pro prots.
i'm hit or miss protting rspike. sometimes i can follow most of the spikes and other times i can't catch anything. maybe it has something to do with favorable winds, skill of the rangers, hexes, i'm not sure.
uw is usually pretty easy to win because of the bridges and obstructions, but after that its more challenging.
generally my strategy is to guardian myself and SoA the infuse and then use SB right before the spike or LS if i'm late. however, sometimes spikes happen when i'm casting guardian or SoA, which usually means someone dies. rpsike can spike every 8s, which is intense to keep up with. i try following one of the rangers (like literally following right beside) to help see where he is spiking, but sometimes i am not fast enough to see who he is spiking, click on him and hit SB. usually i can tell if the spike is on me because the ranger beside me will be pointing his bow right in my face, but it can get confusing when party members are standing close to eachother, behind eachother and such
so, i suppose my question is what is a decent strategy for 1v1 against rspike? should i just follow a ranger and use SB and maybe only perma prot the infuse? should i even worry about perma protting anyone? should i just use SB, channeling and LS?
p.s. i know there's pro prots out there that catch 99% of the spikes. i saw uNb in halls a few weeks ago on king of the hill and it was 3 rspike teams. nobody from uNb died, not even the ghost. how did they do it???

Best thing to do is follow (1) their caller ranger and field watch... U have 1-2 seconds to look in what direction their spiking and prevent the spikes with spirit bond ...
u'll get better at it time by time ...

because uNb has one hell of a spike. they could keep a ranger down on each of the other 2 teams and not even have to infuse/prot

Arrows =/= obstacles.
Use that to your advantage, piercing shields on everyone, and spike down the necro if they're using one.

yea piercing shields is already done.
i was talking to my rspike buddy and he says killing favorable is essential. that's probably why sometimes i can't seem to prot nothing in time, and other times i catch a lot more

If you happen to run rspike yourself for some odd reason, have your rangers dshot the opposing ranger's attack skills.

Watch the field, get down FW, watch the caller. If doesnt work, blame it on the infuse.

You're already doing the right things ^_^
Only things remaining are for the rest of your team to do their job on offense, keeping fav down, interrupting spikes, messing with their attack buffs, and for you to work on your reflexes. But if you're already training their caller and watching for spikes you have half the battle won I'm glad to hear it sounds like you know not to spirit bond after most of the spike damage has gone through... thats always disheartening to see bad prots do XD especially since that last little follow up damage to kill often won't go over sb anyway :P

Most of beating R-spike is forcing them to make sloppy spikes. Shutting down rends/orders/paragons/rits or just generally killing things goes a long way, which is mostly frontline/midline responsibility. The first spike of a match and the first spike after a rez are usually the strongest spikes, if the full spike goes off then there isn't that much that a monk can do, which is the point of the spike. From what you posted you seem to be doing the right stuff.
